Volunteer Spotlight with:
Jeane and Bob Tharratt
Center REP subscribers Jeane and Bob Tharratt have lived in Walnut Creek for over 50 years. They have been coming to the Lesher Center for the Arts since it opened in 1990. Before that, they attended plays at “The Nut House,” also known as Civic Arts Theater, the former walnut factory which stood on the corner of Civic and Locust. Here, they talk about what the LCA means to them and how they experience art.
What sparked your interest in the arts?
My husband comes from an artistic family and our home is surrounded with many paintings done by his family.
What are your favorite companies to watch?
Center REP, CCMT, DLOC
What is your typical evening when attending a performance?
We attend Center Rep with longtime friends and have dinner at Strings, across the street, before the performance. We often visit the Bedford Gallery beforehand, if we have time.
What sets the Lesher Center for the Arts apart from other art centers?
The variety and quality of its performances and the beauty of its surroundings. It’s a lovely building!
What does the Lesher Center for the Arts mean to you?
It sets Walnut Creek apart as a community that values the arts in its many forms. For us, it means that we can attend quality theater and art exhibitions very close to home.
